Our Story

Reedman Law's story begins with its founder, Cody Reedman. Cody's legal career started as an articling student under senior insolvency lawyer Murray K. Morrison. He then gained valuable experience as an associate in various small law firms throughout Vancouver and the Greater Vancouver Area. As a junior lawyer, Cody quickly established a thriving litigation practice, serving as the sole litigator in a seven-lawyer firm.

Cody's passion for insolvency law and white collar crime was rooted in his childhood in North Vancouver. Inspired by articles from Vancouver Sun reporter David Baines, Cody developed a keen interest in business law, investment matters, and white collar crime. This interest led him to shift his focus from general civil litigation to bankruptcy, insolvency, and debtor-creditor law, while also taking on select white collar crime and investment cases.

After leaving his associate position, Cody joined Coal Harbour Law as associate counsel. During this time, he also completed the BCIT Forensic Investigation of Fraud and Financial Crime Program within a year. Following this, Cody established his own practice as a sole practitioner, initially renting an office in the back of a solicitors' firm near Lonsdale Quay in North Vancouver.

In 2019, Reedman Law relocated to downtown Vancouver, sharing office space with a criminal defense and administrative law firm in the Burrard Building. Between 2020 and 2021, the firm experienced significant growth, expanding from a single lawyer to include legal support staff.

During this period, the firm also articled two students and brought on summer students, providing them with valuable exposure to insolvency law and debtor-creditor law.

Today, Reedman Law has evolved into a dynamic team of legal professionals:

  1. Cody Reedman - Founder and Managing Lawyer, Litigator

  2. Grace Lindsey - Associate Lawyer and Litigator (formerly articled student)

  3. Recky Lai - Associate Lawyer and Litigator

  4. Nonye Ngwaba - Articling Student

  5. Jackie - Office Manager and Paralegal

  6. Savannah James - Legal Administrative Assistant

The firm also collaborates with various independent contractors to ensure the delivery of high-quality legal services.

Reedman Law has invested heavily in legal subscriptions and technology, enabling team members to work remotely and provide top-notch client services. This commitment to technological advancement has enhanced the firm's ability to serve clients efficiently and effectively.

From its humble beginnings as a sole practitioner's office to its current status as a growing law firm with three experienced litigators, Reedman Law continues to build on its foundation of expertise in insolvency law, debtor-creditor law, commercial and estate/trust disputes. The firm remains dedicated to providing exceptional legal services while fostering the growth of new legal talent in Vancouver.
